Bio Sketch

Joel Benson focuses on domestic and international debt financings, commercial transactions, acquisitions and divestitures and project development, with specialized expertise working with mining and natural resources companies.  He has extensive experience with structuring and documenting complex credit arrangements and associated multi-jurisdictional collateral security arrangements in the U.S. and around the world.  Mr. Benson represents both borrowers and lenders (including banks, private equity funds, merchant banks and other financial institutions) in international project finance, mezzanine debt, corporate credit facilities, royalty financings, senior and subordinated note offerings and other financing arrangements.  In addition, Mr. Benson frequently advises private equity funds and mining company clients on their acquisitions, investments and other business activities.  He has worked on financing and investment transactions for projects in the United States, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, China, Ghana, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Thailand and Turkey, and his international resources projects have included gold, silver, platinum/palladium, uranium, cobalt, zinc, copper and other metals, industrial minerals, coal and oil and gas.
