Steven H. Denman’s practice focuses on energy law and renewable energy; the regulation of public utilities, energy utilities and telecommunications providers; telecommunications and cable television; coastal zone permitting; land use; and regulatory litigation. Mr. Denman, who has been awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, frequently consults with other attorneys in his specialized areas of practice.
For over twenty-seven years, Mr. Denman has represented clients before regulatory agencies and in the state and federal courts in cases involving a wide variety of electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, and transportation utility issues and in commercial litigation. In recent years, Mr. Denman’s practice has included renewable energy and compliance with renewable energy portfolio standards. His experience includes traditional utility regulation, such as rate cases, cost adjustment clauses and regulatory compliance; competitive issues; the siting of public utility facilities, such as transmission lines, substations and pipelines; independent power production; municipal utilities; merger and acquisition transactions involving regulated energy utilities, water utilities, telecommunications providers and cable television companies; and service agreements, including electric supply, renewable energy, gas supply, cable television, and interconnection between telecommunications carriers. He has also worked with the regulation and operations of cooperative generation and transmission associations, rural electric associations, and cooperative telephone companies.
