Bio Sketch
Richard P. Holme has tried almost 70 jury trials, including those while he was a Deputy District Attorney in Denver (1969-71), numerous trials to courts, and several arbitrations. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (1983-2003; Colorado State Chair, 1994-96). His varied commercial trial practice has included cases with claims for damages of eight nine figures involving one of Colorado's largest land sales, a notorious commodities fraud case, patent and contract disputes, termination of a senior corporate executive, and class actions for wide-spread environmental contamination. He has also litigated major contract actions, eminent domain, employment and discrimination, patent, intellectual property, product liability, and natural resources cases.
He has handled a number of major constitutional cases, including successful challenges to prohibitory billboard laws in Colorado and Maine, raising issues of free speech and takings without compensation; land use planning and zoning challenges; the validity of lobbying regulations; and a wide range of First Amendment issues in connection with the firm's regular representation of Denver's NBC television affiliate and other media clients. Mr. Holme has briefed and argued numerous appellate court matters around the country.
