Bio Sketch
Jeff Vail is an associate in the firm’s Trial Group where his practice involves natural resources litigation and general commercial litigation. Mr. Vail has represented clients in state and federal court, and argued before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Alcivar v. Wynne. Mr. Vail assists other attorneys in the Trial Group on matters including breach of contract, antitrust, and business torts. He has been involved in a number of recent natural resources cases, including:

representing a mining company in CERCLA litigation with the US Government

representing a regional natural gas producer in a pipeline antitrust lawsuit

representing a publicly traded energy company in a drilling rig accident lawsuit
Mr. Vail brings unique experience and perspective to his natural resources litigation practice. As an intelligence officer with the US Air Force, Mr. Vail specialized in the analysis, targeting, and protection of global energy infrastructure. During the Iraq War, Mr. Vail planned the combined US-UK operation to seize critical nodes in Iraq’s southern oil export infrastructure. As a counter-terrorism analyst for the US Department of the Interior, Mr. Vail provided his expertise on energy geopolitics and infrastructure systems to senior decision makers throughout the federal government.
