Profile

David Hammond is the head of the Employment & Labor Law Group. He has been litigating cases since he joined the firm in 1979. He has considerable litigation experience defending employers against all kinds of discrimination, harassment, and common law claims. In addition, he regularly litigates employment cases involving trade secrets, covenants not to compete, and many other issues.

Mr. Hammond frequently assists clients with employment issues. He negotiates and drafts employment agreements for executives and works with clients on employment issues relating to acquisitions. Mr. Hammond counsels clients on terminations, reductions in force, discipline, employee policies, compensation, disability, leave and other issues.
He frequently speaks on employment law topics.

Outside the employment area, Mr. Hammond frequently represents clients in natural resources related litigation involving royalty claims, trade secret allegations, the interpretation and performance of mining leases and agreements, and many other issues.

Mr. Hammond is active in the community. Currently, he is a member of the Mile High United Way Board of Trustees.

Mr. Hammond is a member of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Denver Bar Association.

  • Emerging federal climate change legislation, its likely effect on the Western Climate Initiative and other regional efforts, and the latest ARRA stimulus funding developments affecting alternative and renewable energy development efforts
  • The EPA's recent endangerment finding, the status of pending climate change litigation and steps being taken to meet the goals of the Colorado Climate Action Plan
  • EPA-proposed GHG reporting rules, affected industry sectors, and Colorado's new voluntary reporting program
