Profile

Liz Titus is a litigator working in the Natural Resources group. Ms. Titus specializes in litigating cases for natural resources clients, including oil and gas, mining, and other companies and organizations. Her matters often involve permitting on public lands, cultural resources, federal Indian Law, OSHA, MSHA, land use, contract, tort and other commercial issues. Ms. Titus’ recent pro bono work includes successfully representing an African refugee in an asylum claim.  Ms. Titus also serves as the President of the Colorado GLBT Bar Association.

Ms. Titus graduated with honors from University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006. While at DU, she was a teaching assistant for the Lawyering Process program, a senior editor for the Denver University Law Review and served as co-president of the DU Outlaws. Ms. Titus attended Smith College and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in women’s studies and psychology in 1999. Prior to attending law school she worked as a graphic designer and coached high school volleyball.

Noteworthy Cases

  • Successfully defended NYSE company against deceptive trade practices, breach of contract, and conspiracy claims, obtaining a full defense verdict in a six-day jury trial.
  • Assisted in successful appeal to the Colorado Supreme Court regarding the enforceability of stipulated judgment against an insurance provider. See Old Republic v. Ross, 180 P.3d 427 (Colo. 2008).

  • Emerging federal climate change legislation, its likely effect on the Western Climate Initiative and other regional efforts, and the latest ARRA stimulus funding developments affecting alternative and renewable energy development efforts
  • The EPA's recent endangerment finding, the status of pending climate change litigation and steps being taken to meet the goals of the Colorado Climate Action Plan
  • EPA-proposed GHG reporting rules, affected industry sectors, and Colorado's new voluntary reporting program
