The Colorado Civil Justice League named DGS associate Jordan Lipp its 2009 “Lawyer of the Year” on November 17, recognizing Lipp’s contributions as a CCJL legal advisory board member, including his speaking, advocacy and advisory roles related to tort reform.

Jordan Lipp was a true advocate for the Colorado Civil Justice League since joining the Legal Advisory Board,” said Kelly Maher, spokeswoman for the organization.  Its legal advisory board includes defense attorneys from across the legal spectrum.

Maher cited Lipp as “an outstanding liaison with the community (who) brings the issue of tort reform to an accessible level for non-lawyers.”  A products liability and commercial litigator, Lipp often describes current tort law as a type of hidden tax that adds cost to everything from groceries to ski-lift tickets.

“The current system too often forces Colorado businesses to defend themselves against lawsuits with no merit, adding time, expense and costs to products and services,” notes Lipp.

As a tort-defense lawyer, Lipp’s recent work has included several major victories, one of them a directed verdict for Noble Energy after a five-day jury trial.
