DGS has won a precedent-setting appeal in an age discrimination case.  In a published opinion issued on January 6, the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals adopted the arguments of the DGS appellate group that an Oklahoma statute setting a maximum age limit for new police officers does not violate the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

DGS partners Andrew Low, Victoria Johnson, Cindy Birley and Shannon Stevenson represented the State of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System.  Low is chair of the DGS appellate group.  Johnson focuses her practice on pension, benefits, and ERISA litigation.  Birley has over 25 years of experience in the employee benefits/executive compensation field.  Stevenson is a member of DGS’s trial and appellate groups.
