Case Study: Government Investigation

We have handled a wide variety of Hart-Scott-Rodino filings and follow-up merger investigations conducted by the FTC and Justice Department.  For example, we represented one of the parties to a combination creating the largest hospital chain in the Denver metropolitan area, and one of the parties in the first acquisition of a cable television system by a telephone company to be cleared by the Justice Department.   We also assisted a coal mining company in responding to a massive Department of Justice Civil Investigative Demand in connection with an investigation into possible agreements on coal production levels.  Following in-person presentations to the Department by our client and others, the investigation was closed without any enforcement action.
