Case Study: Billboard

We represented a billboard company in an eminent domain action filed by the Colorado Department of Transportation seeking to take several of our client's billboards along the interstate highway in northern Colorado.  In a case of first impression, CDOT was required to comply with the state and federal uniform property acquisition acts requiring separate compensation for a tenant's billboard structure.  After a four day trial, the trial commissioners awarded our client virtually its entire demand, which was more than two times CDOT's original offer.
