Case Study: Environmental Impact Statement
A consortium of oil and gas companies in the San Juan Basin in New Mexico became concerned that a draft environmental impact statement prepared by the U.S. Forest Service could result in requirements that unreasonably restrict their existing and prospective activities. DGS was retained to prepare legal comments addressing the inadequacy of the draft environmental impact statement and submitted its analysis to the Forest Service and its lawyers in Washington, D.C. and Albuquerque. The Forest Service withdrew the draft environmental impact statement and began the process anew.
