Daniel Franklin is an associate in the Natural Resources Department of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP where his practice focuses on oil and gas, mining, and midstream services. Prior to joining DGS, he worked as a landman for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation where he negotiated the divestiture of oil and gas assets in Colorado, negotiated JOAs and other contracts with operators throughout Colorado and Wyoming, and led Anadarko's permitting effort in Converse County, Wyoming.
Mr. Franklin earned his J.D. with distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he served as the editor-in-chief of the Oil & Gas, Nat. Resources & Energy Journal. During law school, he worked as a law clerk for Cowan & Fleischer, a boutique oil and gas firm in Oklahoma City, where he assisted in the rendering of drilling and division order title opinions. He also worked as a summer associate at Burleson LLP where he addressed a variety of legal issues, including state vs. local regulation of oil and gas, pre-emption, and regulatory takings.
Prior to law school, Mr. Franklin worked as a field landman in Converse County, Wyoming where he negotiated leases and handled various title issues.
While in college, Mr. Franklin played football for the University of Oklahoma and was a four-year letter winner and Academic All Big 12.
