Mike Kotlarczyk is a member of the Trial Department of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP. Mr. Kotlarczyk has litigated matters across the country, with a focus on efficiently representing his clients from the onset of litigation through trial. He has experience in litigation against fiduciaries, capital markets litigation, insurance disputes, attorney discipline matters, and a wide range of business torts and contract disputes. He has represented a diverse array of clients, including individuals, small businesses, insurance guaranty associations, special deputy receivers, National Football League franchises, and a Fortune 50 insurance company. Mr. Kotlarczyk has also worked on numerous appeals and has argued in front of the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Additionally, Mr. Kotlarczyk maintains an active pro bono practice. In 2014, he served on the trial team representing nine Colorado couples who successfully challenged the constitutionality of Colorado’s ban on same-sex marriage. Mr. Kotlarczyk and the team were honored with a Special Recognition Award from the Colorado Lawyers Committee and the Visionaries in Action Award from the GLBT Community Center of Colorado. He is a member of the Board of Directors and the treasurer for the New Legacy Charter School in Aurora.
Prior to joining DGS, Mr. Kotlarczyk practiced law at a boutique litigation firm in Denver. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable David M. Ebel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and to the Honorable Rebecca Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Mr. Kotlarczyk graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as an editor of the Georgetown Law Review, the managing editor of the Annual Review of Criminal Procedure, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He is a member of the American, Colorado, and Denver Bar Associations as well as the Colorado LGBT Bar Association.
Mr. Kotlarczyk is admitted to practice in Colorado and Illinois and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
