Tim Canon is an associate in the Natural Resources Department of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP, where he works with clients in the areas of oil and gas, public lands, and natural resources law.
Mr. Canon’s practice focuses largely on oil and gas transactional services for the oil and gas industry. He assists clients in drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, exchange agreements, farmout agreements, midstream agreements, oil and gas leases, and other instruments affecting the industry. He has experience advising clients on oil and gas and other real property aspects of debt finance transactions, and frequently assists in drafting and negotiating credit agreements, mortgages, and deeds of trust, as well as in preparation of associated local counsel opinions covering Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming law. He is also well-versed in advising clients with respect to federal oil and gas leasing and issues surrounding federal exploratory units, and he has prepared all manner of oil and gas title opinions covering lands in several Rocky Mountain states.
Mr. Canon is an active member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and has co-authored and presented several papers at the Foundation’s special and annual institutes. He is a member of the Denver Petroleum Club (DPC) and will participate in the DPC 2019 mentorship program.
Prior to joining DGS, Mr. Canon was an associate at a boutique oil and gas firm in Denver. Mr. Canon has also worked in the land department of an oil and gas exploration and production company. He is admitted to practice in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.
