DGS Webinar: Carbon Capture, Utilization & Sequestration

Carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (“CCUS”) is an emerging clean climate technology that captures carbon emissions from power generation and other sources and either utilizes the captured carbon in other industries or permanently sequesters it underground. The emerging CCUS industry has recently benefited from the finalization of Section 45Q Tax Credits for CCUS. As a result of its success, agencies have begun to put regulatory policies and prices on carbon, though the monetization of these credits remains somewhat complex. State legislatures have also set out to add laws governing CCUS (while attempting to address pore space ownership questions) with varying degrees of success and clarity, while the EPA’s Class VI Well program is still in its early stages.
