Election 2020 – Impacts on Public Lands & Federal Environmental Policies

November 18, 2020

A change in the presidential administration will likely alter public lands and federal environmental policies, particularly affecting the oil and gas industry. During the campaigns, Joe Biden pushed back on charges that he would ban hydraulic fracturing but stated he would halt oil and gas development on federal lands. Leasing and development on public lands, however, constitute just one issue in a suite of federal policy issues affecting oil and gas development. For example, it’s probable that a Biden-led EPA would resume the Obama era federal enforcement and regulatory programs designed to significantly cut methane emissions from the oil and gas sector. This webinar will identify both potential changes to federal public lands policy and federal environmental regulation from a Biden administration and the tools the administration could use to effectuate such changes.
