DGS Strengthens Public Lands Practice Adds Robert C. Mathes, Kathleen C. Schroder, and Timothy R. Canon

DENVER - November 23, 2015 - Denver public lands attorneys Rob Mathes, Katie Schroder, and Tim Canon will join the Natural Resources Department of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP effective December 1. Mr. Mathes and Ms. Schroder have joined the firm as partners and Mr. Canon as an associate.

"For many years, Rob and Katie have been leaders in Colorado, Wyoming, and the Rocky Mountain West in the areas of public lands, oil and gas, and natural resources law," said Greg Danielson, co-chair of the firm's Natural Resources Department. "We are excited to have them onboard and know that their experience is an invaluable resource to our clients operating on public lands."

Mr. Mathes' practice focuses on public land law including environmental compliance and federal land use and planning. He has considerable experience before the Interior Board of Land Appeals as well as land management and other regulatory agencies associated with natural resource development at both the state and federal levels. Additionally, he has significant litigation experience in both the state and federal courts. He earned his B.A. from the University of Wyoming and his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law where he was elected to membership in Order of the Coif and Phi Kappa Phi and graduated as the Peter Maxfield outstanding student.

Ms. Schroder's practice focuses on all aspects of energy development on federal lands. She counsels clients on oil and gas leasing and development on federal lands and agency compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act. She has extensive experience with the Endangered Species Act, including the process for listing species as threatened or endangered, the process for obtaining permits under section 10 of the Act, and the development of conservation agreements for candidate species. She also advises on federal royalty issues. Ms. Schroder earned her B.A. from Rice University and her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law where she was elected to membership in Order of the Coif.

Tim Canon's practice focuses on oil and gas, public lands, and natural resources law. He earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and his J.D., cum laude, from the Boston University School of Law where he worked as an articles editor for the Review of Banking and Financial Law. Following law school, Mr. Canon gained practical experience working in the land department of an upstream oil and gas operator. He is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of Colorado and Utah.
