Jason St. Julien Recognized with 2021 Davis Award

February 4, 2022

Jason St. Julien was honored last night with the 2021 Richard Marden Davis Award. The award lauds him for his outstanding service to the legal community, along with his civic and charitable leadership.

The Davis Award is presented annually by Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP, the Denver Bar Foundation, and the Davis family “to a Denver lawyer who is 40 years old or younger and combines excellence as a lawyer with civic, cultural, educational, and charitable leadership.” DGS and the Denver Bar Association created this award in memory of Richard Marden Davis, one of the firm’s founders, who devoted himself tirelessly to the profession and the community. Each honoree “best exemplifies the character and promise of Richard Davis at that stage in his career.” Mr. St. Julien follows a long line of past winners who have continued to serve the Denver legal community.

“Jason’s accomplishments as a lawyer and passion for fostering a more inclusive and equitable community make him a role model for our times,” said DGS Co-Managing Partner Kristin Lentz. “It is a privilege to recognize him with the 2021 Davis Award, and we wish him continued success in using his talents for the greater good.”

Mr. St. Julien, who received his J.D. from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, is Lead Counsel of Community Trust at Airbnb, Inc., where he advises internal clients on trust and safety issues. He was previously an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Violent Crime and Immigration Enforcement Section of the Criminal Division. During his tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Denver, he received two United States Attorney’s Awards of Excellence for his work. Earlier, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mary Ann Vial Lemmon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the Honorable Wiley Y. Daniel of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Prior to attending law school, Mr. St. Julien taught 7th grade reading and Texas history at a school in Pearland, Texas, where he was named “New Teacher of Year in Secondary Education” in 2007.

Mr. St. Julien is a faculty member for the Colorado Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education programs and a graduate of both the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado’s 2014 Chamber Connect Leadership Program and the Colorado Bar Association’s 2017 Leadership Training Class. In 2017, he served as president of the Sam Cary Bar Association. Most recently, he participated in the NFL’s On Field Recognition Program during the 2020 season. Coach Anthony Lomando (now with the Los Angeles Chargers) wore Mr. St. Julien's name on his hat the entire season to honor the impact that Mr. St. Julien has made in the face of discrimination and racism. Mr. St. Julien’s 2020 race relations op-ed in The Denver Post made him a prominent voice in the Black Lives Matter conversation on a national level.

“Jason is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal community and beyond. His willingness to raise his voice for positive change inspires us to follow his lead,” said DGS partner Jackie Roeder. “We have no doubt we’ll see more great achievements from him in the future.”
