Shannon Stevenson Receives 2020 Ms. JD Honors Woman of Inspiration Award

March 10, 2020

Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP is pleased to announce that Shannon Stevenson has been named a recipient of the 2020 Ms. JD Honors Woman of Inspiration Award in recognition of her commitment to inspire others through her passion for her work. The announcement coincides with the 12th Annual Ms. JD Conference, “When Women Lead.” The Woman of Inspiration Award is generally one of the most competitive of the seven Ms. JD Honors awards categories.

Ms. Stevenson currently chairs the DGS Trial Department and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. She has briefed and argued more than 50 appeals before state and federal appellate courts, and has litigated, tried, and arbitrated a wide variety of cases for business clients in Colorado and throughout the Rocky Mountain West.

“Shannon’s passion for practicing law and ability to share that passion with others make her an inspiration to us all,” said DGS Co-Managing Partner Chad Williams. “We are pleased that she is getting the national recognition she deserves.”

Throughout her career, Ms. Stevenson has advocated for the advancement of women and diverse attorneys. During her term as president of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association (CWBA) in 2013–2014, she increased membership, particularly among younger generations, and supported women seeking judicial positions in Colorado. Ms. Stevenson has continued to be active in the organization and has mentored numerous women attorneys at DGS and beyond.

“We are incredibly proud of Shannon’s achievements and her commitment to advancing women as leaders in the law,” said CWBA President Sarah Parady.

Ms. Stevenson’s involvement in the broader community is far-reaching. She sits on the Executive Committee for the Denver Metro Chamber’s Economic Development Corporation. Since 2014, she has served on the Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, which recommends candidates for the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals. She is a current member of the Colorado Judicial Institute Board and Duke Law School’s Law Alumni Advisory Board, as well as a past member of the Denver Bar Association’s Board of Trustees.

Ms. JD’s Annual Conference for Women in the Law has served as the premier gathering for women law students and young lawyers across the country, providing a forum for discussing and accelerating the progress made by women in the profession.
