Theresa Wardon Benz Joins DGS Partnership

Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP is pleased to announce that Theresa Wardon Benz has joined the firm as a partner in the Trial Group. Her practice will continue to have an emphasis on appellate matters, commercial litigation, and trials. Ms. Benz’s addition to DGS will further enhance our breadth and expertise in these practice areas.

Ms. Benz is an accomplished trial and appellate practitioner with an extensive portfolio, advising clients in high-stakes commercial, product liability, professional negligence, and class action litigation at both the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts across the country. Her clients cover a range of industries, including the manufacturing, healthcare, and energy sectors. Ms. Benz represents sophisticated companies, including Ford, Michelin, and Whirlpool, in complex matters and has served on winning trial teams in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Ohio, where she played a significant role in helping to achieve successful defense verdicts. In addition, Ms. Benz has briefed many winning appeals in the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining DGS, Ms. Benz was a partner at Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP, beginning her legal career at the firm as an associate in 2009. She previously clerked for Judge Neil M. Gorsuch of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals (now a U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice). As a past 2019 Davis Award recipient, Ms. Benz’s advocacy extends to fostering a more inclusive society through her civic and community involvement. She maintains an impactful pro bono practice, penned several amicus briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court for pro bono matters at the request of private national firms and the Northwestern Supreme Court Clinic, and represents asylum seekers fleeing violence in their home countries. Ms. Benz was a long-time board member for The Gathering Place, Denver’s only daytime shelter for women, children, and transgender individuals experiencing poverty. She also is a mentor for Law School . . .Yes We Can, which is the first law school pipeline program in Colorado to target high-achieving first-year college students from diverse backgrounds to provide them access to the legal profession.

Ms. Benz received her J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Northwestern University Law School and earned her B.A., summa cum laude, in History from Boston College.
