Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP is pleased to announce that DGS partner Wanda J. Abel and two former DGS attorneys, the late Allen Sparkman and the late Tony van Westrum, were recently named the 2019 recipients of the Cathy Stricklin Krendl Business Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award. This award, presented by the Executive Council of the Colorado Bar Association’s Business Law Section, recognizes the honorees’ years of excellence in furthering the development of business-related legislation, writing and teaching Colorado business law, and consistently exhibiting the highest levels of professionalism.
“We are proud to have a growing list of DGS lawyers recognized with the Krendl Award,” said DGS Co-Managing Partner Kristin Lentz. “Wanda has been with DGS for 33 years and has played an important role in the firm’s corporate and securities practice throughout her tenure. Tony and Allen, both of whom passed away earlier this year, left an indelible mark on the practice of business law in Colorado, and we are thankful that their illustrious careers included time spent at DGS.”
The Cathy Stricklin Krendl Business Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award is among the highest honors reserved for Colorado attorneys specializing in business law. The Executive Council of the CBA Business Law Section considers, among other attributes, nominees’ “intellectual and professional excellence in the practice of or scholarship on Colorado business law; the recipient’s generosity of spirit as reflected in the recipient’s participation in and contribution to the advancement of Colorado business law; the recipient’s efforts to enhance the general quality of business law practiced by Colorado lawyers; and the recipient’s devotion to the principles of legal professionalism, all manifested consistently over years of endeavor.”
The professional contributions of Ms. Abel, Mr. Sparkman, and Mr. van Westrum were recognized at a ceremony and reception on September 12 at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver. The event was held in conjunction with the 2019 Business Law Institute.
