DGS Receives 2023 Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Award

May 9, 2023

Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been named a recipient of the 2023 Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Award. A nonprofit affiliate of the parent organization Lex Mundi, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation empowers attorneys and organizations working on high-impact, sustainable solutions to social, economic, and environmental challenges. The awards are presented each year to recognize member law firms that support the work of the Foundation through various means, including providing critical pro bono legal services that strengthen the global social enterprise movement. DGS co-managing partners Kristin Lentz and Chad Williams accepted the award on behalf of the firm during the Lex Mundi Connect + Collaborate Annual Conference in San Francisco.

“As social entrepreneurs work to explore new and inventive solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges, pro bono advocacy lays the groundwork to help leaders launch, grow, and achieve their important objectives,” said Chad Williams. “This award represents the outstanding work of our attorneys, and we are deeply honored to be a resource and provide valuable counsel to inspired changemakers in partnership with the Foundation.”

As the exclusive member firm in Colorado for Lex Mundi, the world’s leading network of independent law firms, DGS has access to in-depth experience in 100+ countries to deliver top-tier cross-border legal solutions. For years, DGS has bolstered its engagement and membership with the association. Several DGS attorneys have served as vice chairs of practice groups and held leadership positions, including Kristin Lentz, who was recently appointed to the board of directors and will also serve as treasurer.

“I am thrilled to be selected to join the Lex Mundi Board of Directors and have the opportunity to collaborate with an extraordinary team of seasoned visionaries,” said Kristin Lentz. “The network continues to raise the bar, enhancing its member firms’ connectivity to knowledge, relationships, and resources from its peers, and I look forward to supporting those efforts in this role.”

Apart from the Foundation, DGS continues to scale its firm-wide commitment to sharing pro bono talent with local communities and promoting equitable access to legal services. Through the Colorado Supreme Court pro bono program, the firm has pledged to provide at least 50 hours of pro bono and related legal community service per attorney each year. In 2022, DGS lawyers accumulated over 9,000 hours, an average of over 50 hours per attorney. Many of these attorneys represented clients unable to afford legal services, which remains a barrier to accessing the judicial system.

“Pro bono advocacy is not only a way for attorneys to give back to their community, but it also serves as a reminder of the importance of using our legal skills to help those in need,” said DGS Pro Bono Partner Chris Lane. “By offering our time and expertise, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families who may otherwise be left without a voice. As attorneys, it is our duty to uphold justice and equality, and pro bono work is one of the most effective ways we can do so.”
