Dorothy Auth

Dr. Dorothy Auth is a partner at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP. She is not yet admitted to practice in Colorado.

With over three decades of experience, Dr. Auth has deep expertise in navigating complex patent litigation as well as providing intellectual property licensing, patent procurement, and counseling services both domestically and internationally. Her practice covers a broad range of industries, including biotechnology, FinTech, medical devices, consumer products, computers, and other mechanical devices.

Dr. Auth works with clients to develop their intellectual property assets and legal strategies to maximize their protected field. Prior to joining DGS, Dr. Auth was a partner and head of the Intellectual Property Group in the New York office of one of the oldest and most prominent financial law firms in the world. She has represented many leading financial institutions, corporations, and funds in litigation before the U.S. Federal Courts, the International Trade Commission, and international arbitrations under the AAA and WIPO rules. Dr. Auth has extensive international experience coordinating patent infringement trials, oppositions, and hearings between the U.S. and various European jurisdictions. She has been involved in trials seeking preliminary relief and cross-border injunctions. Recently, she won a rare FRCP 12(b)(6) dismissal in the Eastern District of Texas. Her expertise in these areas makes her a valuable asset to her clients.

Dr. Auth provides intellectual property counseling and services to a wide range of clients, including Credit Suisse, Torreya Partners, The Medicines Company (now Novartis), Pfizer, Medinol, Goldman Sachs, Anheuser Busch InBev, and the National Institutes of Health. Earlier in her career, Dr. Auth was a partner for a leading specialty intellectual property law firm.

Dr. Auth is a past president of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association. She is currently a member of ChIPs, an organization that helps to advance women in technology, law, and policy. She is an active member of the Colorado Technology Association and INTA. Dr. Auth was recently named to the annual list of Intellectual Property Trailblazers published by the National Law Journal and a 2023 “IP Star” of Managing Intellectual Property, the guide to the world’s leading IP firms and practitioners. She was also named among The Best Lawyers in America for “Patent Law.” Dr. Auth has also been recognized in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading Women in Business Law and by Crain’s New York Business as part of its 2022 “Notable Women in Law” list. In 2022, Dr. Auth was added to the inaugural “Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America” guide and awarded this same honor again by Lawdragon for 2024.

Dr. Auth is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and U.S. District Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Dr. Auth is also licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
